The finest instrument in the collection. A Santa Cruz Guitar Company Fingerstyle model from Richard Hoover's shop, labeled April 1990, number 148 of the FS line, built only a couple of years after the model was introduced. Small-jumbo cutaway body, cedar-style top, dramatically figured rosewood back, austere un-inlaid ebony board, gold tuners with ebony buttons. A purpose-built fingerstyle guitar from one of the great American shops.

What we know, including the problems

- Exact tonewood species are NOT confirmed. The standard FS specification is Indian rosewood back and sides with Brazilian rosewood binding. The back on this guitar is dramatically figured, but it is NOT being sold as Brazilian rosewood. A factory build letter has been requested to settle this.
- Playing wear on the top, including light scratches around the lower bout and soundhole.
- The pickguard may not be original. Current production FS models ship without one.
- Neck angle, bridge, and top have not been professionally inspected.
